Roscommon Public Participation Network (RPPN) is an independent umbrella network providing a voice for all social inclusion, community, voluntary and environmental groups in the county. It was established in 2014 following a series of public meetings and information campaigns. It is the main link through which Roscommon County Council and other local decision making bodies in the county connect with the community. The primary aim of the Network is to co-ordinate and support the appointment of community representatives onto decision making committees within Roscommon County Council and other bodies in the county. It also engages with groups on funding opportunities, training and capacity building initiatives.
Membership of the Network is open to all social inclusion, community, voluntary and environmental based groups and organisations working within a voluntary, co-operative or not for profit basis for the benefit of the community. To date RPPN have 300+ groups registered with the network all of whom are currently registered on our Salesforce CRM system.
Our task was to create an engaging and easy to manage website where Roscommon PPN Members and the general public could quickly find resources, stay informed, and become involved in community events and Committee meetings. At the same time there is a Free Online Resource Portal only accessible for members which supports their members in accessing useful information and supports, including templates, documents and presentations on a variety of local development topics.
We also ensured that the owners of the site could easily maintain the site without our help and are able to upload news, documents, and resources themselves. Also they’re able to update committee membership and that of the secretariat. And finally we added a feature that allows them to assign documents, people, and resources to the various groups dynamically.
Their existing newsletter was integrated into the site, reducing the work of publishing it to the site to a few, simple steps.
The website’s bespoke design is responsive across mobile and desktop devices. It was developed in WordPress, JavaScript, and the latest Bootstrap 5 framework. The bespoke theme is based on the Roots/Sage starter theme, pre-processed with Webpack, SCSS, and Blade templates.
